Romancing the Stone (1984) Review

I watched this movie while I was sick, and I still enjoyed it, which tells you it's a pretty darn good movie. I came across it as I was looking at really bad sequels. It has one apparently, The Jewel of the Nile. But both of them had good movie trailers that were fun and the plots looked good, so I decided to give them a whirl. As I said before, I'm starting to love 80s movies, they have the bets action/adventure/romance ever. Sadly, I'm running out of movies to watch.

I was expecting a lot when I started watching the movie, and I must say I was a bit disappointed by the movie in some aspects, but overall it was good. Plus, after I watched it, it grew on me and I realized just how much fun it really was to watch.

The movie has a good plot, and great characters. I loved Jack, he was absolutely hilarious and not a cliche "hero" type man. It was fresh. Joan, the woman, was also very interesting. She loves romance and she's looking for romance, and she expects everything to be fictional, and it's not as boring on screen as you'd think it would be.

The two leads are very funny and play off of each other well. They have good chemistry and it's not always 'i love you, i love you, i love you' on screen. There is definitely a Tarzan type quality to the movie cover, and I was expecting more Tarzan in the jungle stuff, in the movie, but there isn't much. The third wheel of the movie, Ralph, is hilarious and adds zest to the movie. He reminds me of the brother, Jonathan, in The Mummy. There is a bit of a Indiana Jones feel to the movie, but the screenplay was written five years prior, so there was no copy-catting.

The movie starts Michael Douglas as Jack Colton, Kathleen Turner as Joan Wilder, and Danny DeVito as Ralph.

Tarzan (1999) Review

Tarzan was definitely not one of my favorite childhood movies. I hated Disney movies in general as a child. They were dark and scary. I don't see how Disney appealed to any child. Every movie of theirs was absolutely terrifying. But as i've grown up, i've come to like Disney movies more and more. When I was about 13 or so, I really started liking their movies. I still didn't have a preference for Tarzan, until about a week ago when I got a hankering to watch the movie. I watched it and loved it. It was way shorter than I remember it as a child, but it wasn't scary anymore. Of course, there was still the lingering preschool reminiscence.

So as I said, I watched Tarzan. I throughly enjoyed the movie. I loved the music, all the songs are super catchy and still linger in my head the day after I watch the movie. I noticed things I had never noticed as a child, and it made the movie even greater. Jane and Tarzan's relationship was short and cute, but had no real depth. But, as a Disney movie, it totally didn't matter. They were a cute couple and had a ton of funny moments. I think Tarzan is one of Disney's best classic films. It's great for kids, if they're not terrified, and adults love the movie as well.

Overboard (1987) Review

The other day I was on the internet when I came upon Overboard. I watched the trailer, and remembered one of my friends watching it while I was at her house once. So later, when I got some free time, I watched the movie. I can honestly say the movie got me into 80s movies and I'm excited to explore more old movies now. I thought old movies were bad quality and stupid, but they're better in many aspects than movies today.

Overboard was like a lot of romantic comedies, but it had a good twist and it had me hooked. I found myself really rooting for the couple, unlike in most romantic comedies when you just watch it mindlessly to pass time. The movie was funny and fast paced. It was cliched at the end, but that's okay, no movie's perfect. It's a great family or date night movie.

The two stars, Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn are a couple in real life, and I think it reflected very well in their movie. There were things that seemed very genuine about them as a couple, they could fight just as well as they could make up.

For some reason, I keep thinking about Fool's Gold, when I think about the movie. I'm not too sure why. It's kind of weird.

I recommend Overboard to everyone to experience at least once, you'll enjoy it.

Bucket List

Lately, I've been thinking more and more about what life's about and all the things I want to experience before my time comes. I jotted down a few things i'd like to do that would make me happy and feel accomplished.

Without further adieu, my list:

My Bucket List
1. Write a novel.
2. Learn how to box.
3. Visit Antarctica for research.
4. Meet J.K. Rowling
5. Finish a coloring book.
                                                           to be continued....

Upgrade me please!

When I turned 16, my grandmother gave me a cute little black Ford Focus. I love my car, and i'll always remember it as my first car, but these days, I wish I had a bit of a bigger car. I need more space and more fuel economy, both things I like about the Ford Edge. Plus, the Edge is super cute. Hopefully, when I graduate, i can get one. I would love one in a cream color. It's my dream right now. It'll be okay if I don't get it though.

I used to not like SUVs that had the rounded back, but now I absolutely love them. They're so cute driving down the road, and they're like an explorer, but youngerish.

Quote of the Day

"Why spiders? Why couldn't it be 'follow the butterflies.'"
Ron Weasley, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

This is an awesome quote from both the movie and the book. How can you not bust out laughing when you think about Ron saying this? It just makes my day.

If only...

If only I could have one of these beautiful dresses for my wedding!

I love vintage, and seeing these makes me wish I was getting married. They look like fairytale princess dresses to me. Maybe I will one day.

But I know one thing, I want my dress to be cream, have lace, and I want to be able to cut it off to wear again on my anniversaries.
